The Indian Premier League, ever since its inception in 2008, has provided a stage for youngsters to grow and learn from the best in the game. And IPL 2020 is no different in this respect.
While we have seen MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, in discussion with multiple youngsters after several of CSK’s encounters, his teammate Imran Tahir – IPL 2019’s Purple Cap winner – in a video posted by Rajasthan Royals, was seen giving youngster Riyan Parag invaluable tips about leg-spin.
The session took place after Rajasthan’s seven-wicket win over CSK on October 19 in Abu Dhabi. Here’s the full video.
Tahir, who hadn’t played an IPL 2020 encounter until CSK’s last match against Mumbai Indians, looked in no hurry, giving Parag ample time to understand the nuances of leg-spin and its variations, even bowling himself multiple times to give the youngster an idea about how to control his pace and spin.
Parag, who hasn’t had much opportunity to showcase his talent with the ball this season, bowling only twice in IPL 2020, took two wickets in the previous edition and bowled everything from a legbreak to the carrom ball.
With the bat, he led Rajasthan to an improbable win against Sunrisers Hyderabad this season, adding 85 runs with Rahul Tewatia for the fifth wicket to help his side cross the line.
