Jasprit Bumrah‘s stellar performance with the ball saw him rise to the top of IPL 2020 wicket-taking charts while puncturing Delhi Capitals’ innings by taking three wickets, two of which came in a space of four balls in the 12th over.

Capitals suffered a shaky start against Mumbai Indians after both their openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw found themselves back in the hut with only 15 runs on the board. While Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant stitched together a partnership of 35 runs for the third wicket, they took up 43 deliveries before the DC captain fell to Rahul Chahar.
Among seamers, only Jofra Archer and Chris Morris have a better #IPL2020 economy rate than Jasprit Bumrah (min. 20 overs). No one has more wickets.

However Bumrah, normally at the heart of MI’s bowling efforts was curiously absent. Not given the new ball, it wasn’t until as late as the ninth over that he was introduced to the attack. He quickly made up for lost time, forcing Marcus Stoinis to edge a short delivery to Quinton de Kock before trapping Pant in front of the wicket three deliveries later to reduce the Capitals to 62-5 in the 12th over.
The twin-strike dealt a severe blow to DC’s hopes of making a comeback in the game as they meandered their way to 110-9 by the end of the 20th over. Bumrah finished with three wickets while conceding only 17 runs from his quota of four overs.
