Rashid Khan, who didn’t have the best of starts to the IPL 2020 season, rediscovered his form against Delhi Capitals, returning figures of 3-14 in a 15-run win. He revealed how a well-thought approach to his bowling brought the desired results.
Speaking after the match, Rashid revealed that he realised after the first few deliveries of his spell against DC that he needed to bowl quicker. The tactic helped him take three crucial wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant while conceding only 14 runs. His performance also helped SRH register their first win of the ongoing IPL season.

“I bowled quicker today,” he said, “when I started and bowled my first ball, I realised it. You need two-three balls to know what the right pace is. In these conditions, you need to bowl back of a length to the batsmen. Warner always backs me and tells me that you know what’s best for the team. Only when things aren’t going my way I go and ask the captain what to do.”

A heartfelt tribute from @rashidkhan_19 as he dedicates his Man of the Match award to his late parents. His mom was a fan of his bowling and was proud to see him collect Man of the Match awards in IPL. #Dream11IPL #DCvSRH @SunRisers pic.twitter.com/W1ta0G5kRe

Rashid dedicated his player of the match award to his parents, who passed away recently. “Tough one and a half years for me, first my dad expired and it took a bit of time for me to come back, then my mom three-four months ago,” he said. “My mom was my biggest fan, especially in the IPL and when I was the player of the match, she would always talk to me through the night.”
