The match was initially set to be held prior to the start of the tournament
The first IPL All-Stars match, which was set to take place three days before the start of the 2020 tournament, has been postponed.
In January, following an IPL governing council’s meeting in Delhi, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly announced that the fixture would precede the start of the tournament, with proceeds going to charity.
The postponement was confirmed by IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel on Thursday to various outlets, including Sportstar and ESPNcricinfo.
“We decided to host the match after the tournament because we had to see the performances of the players and only after that we could select the teams,” Patel told Sportstar.

The match is reportedly set to feature players from all eight IPL franchises, with one side made up from players from franchises from the south and west of India – Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore – and the other made up from franchises from the north and east – Delhi Capitals, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.
The league stage schedule for the IPL was announced on Tuesday, with Mumbai to play CSK in the opener on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium. The final will be played on May 24, with the tournament spanning 57 days.
