The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to be the longest ever, with a reported span of 57 days allowing for the scrapping of double headers.
While there will be no increase in the number of games played by each team, the mooted start and end dates of March 29 and May 24 would set a new record for the number of days taken up by an IPL season. Though the fixtures and dates are not yet set in stone, the reported tournament length would allow the scrapping of double headers, believed to be the preferred option of host broadcasters Star. Games are set to start at 7.30pm local time.
