Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed South Africa quick Dale Steyn as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile, who has pulled out of the IPL with a back niggle.
Steyn started his IPL career with Royal Challengers and continued playing for them until 2010.
Steyn’s most recent appearance at the IPL was in 2016, when he played one match for Gujurat Lions. He pulled out from the 2017 auction with a serious shoulder injury and then went unsold in the two subsequent auctions.
Virat Kohli fumed and raged after RCB's losses earlier in #IPL2019. But after their latest defeat to DC, he was strangely calm.

Coulter-Nile missed the initial stages of the IPL due to international commitments, with Australia playing a five-match ODI series in UAE against Pakistan, all of which they won.

Coulter-Nile acquitted himself well in the series, taking seven wickets from three matches at 23.71. That form, coupled with his pinch-hitting ability lower down the order, might have been a good fit to boost Bangalore’s winless campaign.
Those hopes to spark a bowling revival will now rest on Steyn’s experienced shoulders.
