New Zealand registered a historic victory over India in the first Test match in Bengaluru to go 1-0 up in the three-match series - here's the updated World Test Championship points table following the first IND-NZ Test.

After bundling India out for a historic low of 46 on the first (read: second) morning of the match, New Zealand batters made merry, piling up a massive 402 thanks largely to a classy Rachin Ravindra century (134) and a Tim Southee cameo (65) lower down the order.

India responded with an innings that at one point threatened to take the game away from New Zealand, with Sarfaraz Khan (150) and Rishabh Pant (99) being the chief architects of a courageous comeback, before the second new ball turned the game back around in New Zealand's favour. Matt Henry (3-102) and Will O'Rourke (3-92) kept India's lead down to 106.

On day five, New Zealand chased down the target with relative ease despite a few nervy moments early on to register their first Test victory in India since 1988. Will Young top scored with 48 as he and Rachin Ravindra (39*) took their side over the line.

Updated WTC points table: New Zealand jump up to fourth

New Zealand's victory has seen their points percentage (PCT) jump from 37.50 to 44.44 per cent, leapfrogging South Africa and England in the process. They are now placed fourth, comfortably behind Sri Lanka (55.56 per cent), and just above England (43.06 per cent).

India are still seated at the top despite the loss, but their lead over second-placed Australia has reduced from nearly 12 per cent to about 5.5 per cent. In fact, Australia and India have the same number of victories, defeats, and draws from the same number of games now, but Australia have hade eight more points deducted than India due to over-rate offences, reducing their PCT to 62.5 per cent.
