India suffered a historic 3-0 series whitewash at home to New Zealand on Sunday (November 3). Here's how the cricketing world reacted to the result.
India had lost the first two matches of the series in Bengaluru and Pune, which consigned them to a first home Test series loss in 12 years. As they went into the Mumbai Test on November 1, the focus was on preventing a whitewash.
Daryl Mitchell (82) and Will Young (71) helped New Zealand to 235 in the first innings, but India managed to take a 28-run lead, thanks in large part to the efforts of Shubman Gill (90) and Rishabh Pant (60). Ravindra Jadeja's 5-55 then helped India restrict the visitors to 174 second time around, setting the hosts 147 for victory.

India began their chase in the morning session of day three, but quickly unravelled. Rohit Sharma miscued a pull shot and Shubman Gill left a straight one to leave them 16-2. Not long after, they collapsed to 29-5 before a mini-recovery led by Pant and Jadeja. But when the former was the seventh to fall in controversial fashion, India still needed 41 runs to win. They eventually folded for 121 to lose by 25 runs.
The 0-3 reverse meant that for the first time in Test history, India had been whitewashed at home in a series of three matches or longer. Here's how the cricketing world reacted.
