Smriti Mandhana hit the fastest 100 for India in women's ODIs

In the third ODI of the three-match series against Ireland at Rajkot, Smriti Mandhana hit the fastest hundred for India in women’s ODIs.

Mandhana had finished 2024 as the leading run-scorer of the year, with 747 runs at 57.46. Her form seems to have spilled over into 2025. After making 41 and 73 in the first two ODIs of the three-match series against Ireland at Rajkot, she blazed away to an incredible start in the third after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

After taking only 39 balls for her first fifty, Mandhana needed only 31 balls for her second. At 70 balls, this is the fastest ODI hundred* by an Indian woman by a huge distance, a whopping 17 balls clear of the previous record of 87, held by Harmanpreet Kaur.

Mandhana eventually fell 135 off only 80 balls, within touching distance of Sophie Devine’s world record of the fastest ODI 150, off only 93 balls. This is her second-highest score in the format, after her 136 against South Africa at Bengaluru in 2024.
