Watch: Tilak Varma flicked a 150.3 kmph delivery by Jofra Archer over deep backward square for a massive six during the second India-England T20I today (January 25).

India are chasing 166 to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, following their convincing win in Kolkata earlier. Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma were dismissed in quick succession, leaving the hosts reeling at 19-2 in 2.3 overs before skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma joined hands.

Tilak, who became just the second India batter to smash back-to-back T20I tons for India last year, started cautiously and was two off six at one stage before taking on Archer in the fifth over.

The first ball was slashed over point for a boundary before Tilak went bigger after Archer sent down a rapid full-length ball around the off-stump. The batter looked to get across initially but stayed put and went down on one knee as he swept the delivery for his first maximum of the night.

He was not done and went after Archer two balls later again. Archer banged it short down the leg side, Tilak managed a top edge, with the pace taking it over the keeper’s hit for another six.

Archer conceded 41 runs in his first three overs at an economy rate of 13.70, conceding nearly 58 per cent of India’s runs in the first eight overs. After over number eight, India were 71-4 with Tilak batting on 29 off 21.
