England skipper Jos Buttler went past the mark of 600 runs against India in T20Is, overtaking a West Indian star to record the highest run tally by a single batter against the current world champions.

In the second match of the India vs England T20I series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, England were looking to hit back after losing the first game in Kolkata by eight wickets. The visitors were put in to bat after Suryakumar Yadav won the toss, and Buttler came to the crease after the fall of Phil Salt's wicket in the very first over.

Taking the attack to India in the powerplay, the England captain made his way to 45 off 30 balls, following on from his 68 in the first T20I, before he was dismissed by Axar Patel.

Buttler's effort helped England post 165-6, which proved insufficient in the end as Tilak Varma's unbeaten half-century saw India over the line.
