India have made three changes to their XI for the third ODI between India and England, their final one-dayer before the Champions Trophy begins.
England won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which last hosted an ODI in November 2023 – the World Cup final between India and Australia. According to commentator Deep Dasgupta, the same black soil surface is being used for the final ODI of the three-match series, which India already lead 2-0.
India make three changes
For the final ODI, India made three changes, resting Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja. Shami is returning from a long-standing injury as he looks to fully get into his groove ahead of the Champions Trophy. Jadeja has been rested as well, one of two left-arm spin all-rounders alongside Axar Patel. With Jasprit Bumrah's injury ruling him out of the Champions Trophy, India wouldn't want to push their seniors as much either.
Varun Chakravarthy misses out
The third change is Varun Chakravarthy, the India spinner who won a place in the Champions Trophy squad in place of the injured Bumrah. According to Rohit Sharma at the toss, Chakravarthy is suffering from a right calf injury, which ruled him out of the final ODI. Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh have made their way back into the side.
England make one change as well, including Tom Banton in their XI, with Jamie Overton missing out. Banton will play his first ODI for 1,654 days, his last one-dayer coming way back in August 2020. Banton came into the squad due to Jacob Bethell's injury.
