India have named two debutants in their XI for the first ODI against England in Nagpur.
India captain Rohit Sharma also confirmed at the toss that senior batter Virat Kohli is out injured with a knee issue, making space for the left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal to make his ODI debut.
Jaiswal's stock has been on a steady rise in international cricket. After a fruitful Test tour of Australia recently, he was named in India's Champions Trophy squad without having ever played an ODI. However, that will change today (February 6), when steps out to open the batting with Rohit and becomes an all-format India player.
The other debutant India have named in their side is all-rounder Harshit Rana, who came into the limelight during the India vs England T20I series when he replaced Shivam Dube as a concussion substitute. The decision to bring him into the side caused controversy after his match-winning spell, when Jos Buttler argued that he was not a 'like-for-like' replacement for Dube.
