Against England at the Wankhede Stadium, Abhishek Sharma set a new record for the highest individual score by an Indian in men’s T20Is.
Coming into the fifth T20I 3-1 up in the series, India amassed 247-9 at the Wankhede Stadium. Leading the charge was Abhishek, who hit the second-fastest fifty (off 17 balls), then the second-fastest hundred (37) for India in men’s T20Is.
Abhishek eventually fell for a 54-ball 135 with 13 sixes, three clear of any other Indian’s innings tally in the format. He also set a new record for the highest score in men’s T20Is for India. He went past the 126 by Shubman Gill, Abhishek’s first captain and opening partner in international cricket.
Abhishek’s score is also the joint-10th highest in the history of the format and the sixth in matches between ICC Full Member nations (Aaron Finch occupies the first as well as the third places).
