England have announced their playing XI for the first match of the five-game IND vs ENG ODI series.
Joe Root will make a comeback to the 50-over setup for the first time after the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. England will be led by Jos Buttler, and would hope to put their house in order in the ODI series, both to overcome the 4-1 drubbing in the T20Is and to prepare themselves for the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
This India vs England ODI series will also mark the first 50-over assignment for Brendon McCullum as head coach of the England side. For the first match of the series, the visitors have decided to rest Mark Wood but have named Jofra Archer as one of the three frontline seamers in the XI.
The match will be played on February 6 at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
England XI for first ODI vs India:
Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (c), Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood.
