India will take on England in the first T20I of the five-match series in Kolkata tomorrow (January 22) - Here's what the Betfair odds for the first T20I are.
IND vs ENG 1st T20I: Who will score the most runs?
The India-England T20I series promises to be an unprecedented run-fest, with both teams known for their ultra-aggressive batting approaches in the shortest format. India's last T20I series, against South Africa in November 2024, saw four individual hundreds being scored, two each by Sanju Samson (backed on the Betfair Exchange at 4.1 to top-score) and Tilak Verma (4.0). To add to those two, India have the likes of Suryakumar Yadav - arguably the best T20 batter in the world - reflected in his odds of 4.0. Abhishek Sharma, who had a breakthrough IPL season last year, is 4.6 on the Exchange to make a statement with the bat.
England boast of a power-packed team as well, led by the ever-consistent Jos Buttler, backed at 3.75 to top score for his country. Phil Salt will return to his IPL home ground for the first match of the series, so he will know the conditions well - he is tipped on the Exchange at 4.3. The middle order will be packed with big hitters in the form of Harry Brook (5.5), Liam Livingstone (a high 9.4), and Jacob Bethell who is priced at 7.2. Ben Duckett, who has been confirmed to open the batting is tipped at 4.7.
You can back England at 2.46 on the Betfair Exchange whilst India are the favourites at 1.67.

Betfair Sportsbook picks the respective captains, Yadav and Buttler, as the favourites to be the top run-scorers in the first T20I. They are backed at 11/4 by Betfair. Tilak Verma, expected to bat at No.3 for India, is the next favourite, having odds of 16/5 with Betfair. If you feel risky, all-rounders who would bat in the middle order for both teams, Liam Livingstone and Nitish Kumar Reddy, have odds of 11/1 and 8/1 respectively to be the top-scorers. Reddy made his debut last year and shone immediately, scoring 74 off 34 in his second game against Bangladesh. Livingstone has been in good form of late as well, having made 87 off 47 balls in a T20I against Australia in September last year, following which he has recorded scores of 23 (11)*, 39 (28), and 4 (6).
IND vs ENG 1st T20I: Who will be the Player of the Match?
Betfair picks Suryakumar Yadav as the favourite to be the Player of the Match in the first match of the series with odds of 17/2. The India captain has already won that award 16 times in 78 matches, second most by any player in men's T20Is after Sikandar Raza's 17 POTM awards.
Hardik Pandya and Phil Salt offer the best returns, having odds of 13/1 with Betfair to win the Player of the Match award in the first T20I.
