Virat Kohli gifted his bat to Shakib Al Hasan after the Kanpur Test between India and Bangladesh

Watch: Virat Kohli gifted his bat to Shakib Al Hasan after the end of the Kanpur Test between India and Bangladesh on October 1.

India beat Bangladesh comfortably in the second Test in Kanpur despite more than two days getting washed out. After the match, during the post-game presentations, Virat Kohli was seen gifting his bat to Bangladesh veteran Shakib Al Hasan.

Shakib has announced that he is retiring from Test cricket after the South Africa series, although there's no clarity on whether he will feature in that given his safety concerns in Bangladesh. If he doesn't, it would mean that the Kanpur Test was his last, bringing an end to a storied 71-match career where he has scored 4,609 runs and taken 246 wickets.

This is not the first time that Kohli's bat has been in the news during the Kanpur Test. On day four, Akash Deep had hit two sixes off his first three balls with Kohli's bat as well. Earlier this year, during the IPL, Rinku Singh was also seen requesting Kohli for a bat. There have been several other instances of Kohli's bat being in demand and him gifting his bat to his own teammates and opponents over the years as well.

India's next assignment is a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh starting October 6, after which they play New Zealand in three Test matches.
