Rohit Sharma started his innings in the second Test between India and Bangladesh with consecutive sixes off his first two balls

Watch: Rohit Sharma has become the first-ever Test opener to hit two sixes off the first two balls during his blazing cameo during day four of the second Test between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur.

After rain played spoilsport in the first three days, with only 35 overs possible, India bowled out Bangladesh for 233. Hoping to force an improbable result, the hosts went all guns blazing during their first innings.

After Jaiswal scored 12 off the first over, Rohit, facing his first ball of the match, joined the party. He started by smacking Khaled Ahmed for a six down the ground. Khaled tried to adjust his length by pitching the next ball short. The India captain needed no second invitation as he swivelled around to launch another six over deep square leg.

India raced to fifty off just 18 balls, the fastest by a team in Test cricket. In the process, they broke England’s two-month-old record against the West Indies.

Rohit went on to smash another maximum before he was bowled by Mehidy Hasan Miraz for an 11-ball 23.
