Rishabh Pant and Litton Das in a heated conversation during the opening day of the Chepauk Test between India and Bangladesh on September 19

Watch: Rishabh Pant and Litton Das were involved in an animated exchange after the former ran a single following a misdirected throw during day one (September 19) of the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh.

India slipped to 34-3 after being put to bat first, owing to a sensation spell in the morning from Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud. Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal joined hands in a period of consolidation to resurrect India’s teetering innings.

During their rescue act, Pant was involved in a heated exchange with opposition wicketkeeper Litton in the 16th over of the innings. Taskin bowled a good length ball to Jaiswal, who defended it towards the gully.

Pant, at the non-striker’s end, tried to snatch a single but was sent back by Jaiswal. In the process, a misdirected throw ricocheted off Pant’s pad towards mid-on, allowing the batters to complete the run this time.

Litton, however, was seemingly unhappy as the batters took a single after the ball deflected off Pant’s pads. He was visibly annoyed and the duo was engaged in a war of words.

Pant was heard voicing his frustration on the stump microphone: "Usko feko na bhai mujhe kyu mar rhe ho," which translates to "Throw it to him, why are you hitting me?'
