On Friday, India took on Bangladesh in the second of two Test matches in Kanpur, with rain delaying the start of play. The hosts went in with an unchanged lineup, therefore sticking to R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as their spinners and leaving out local boy Kuldeep Yadav.

India chose to field first, and Akash Deep struck twice in the first session to remove Zakir Hasan for a 24-ball duck, and Shadman Islam for 24. Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto took them safely to lunch, though.

In the second session, which started late due to rain, Ashwin struck for the first time in the match. Coming around the wicket to the left-hander Shanto, he got one to go one with the arm. Shanto played for the turn, missed and was struck on the pad. He was given out on-field and reviewed, but had no luck.

The Bangladesh skipper became Ashwin's 420th Test victim in Asia, taking the off-spinner past Anil Kumble into second place for the most Test wickets in Asia.
