India gave out T20I caps to Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy for the first T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh.
India included the uncapped Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy for the first T20I against Bangladesh. Reddy and Mayank will be India’s T20I caps 116 and 117, three months after India had given out caps to Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Sai Sudharsan, and Tushar Deshpande on the Zimbabwe tour.
Reddy, a seam-bowling all-rounder from Andhra, is a batter who bowls seam. He has been part of the Indian T20I squad earlier this year, but injuries kept delaying his debut. From 20 T20 matches, he has 395 runs at a strike rate of 128, and has gone for 11.65 an over.
Mayank took the IPL by storm with his hostile pace in the 2024 edition, but subsequent injuries kept him out of action. From 14 T20s, he has 19 wickets at an economy of 6.60. Other notable inclusion is of Varun Chakravarthy, who had last played for India at the 2021 T20 World Cup.
In the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl. The venue, the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, is another international “debutant”, though the city (Gwalior) has hosted international cricket before.
