Mayank Yadav has been picked for the India vs Bangladesh T20I series

India have named their squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, giving speedster Mayank Yadav a maiden international call-up.

Yadav made headlines in IPL 2024 after clocking speeds upwards of 155 kph. However, an injury mid-way through the season has kept him out of all action until now, as the Delhi quick has been fast-tracked to the Indian team as soon as he seems to have recovered from his injury.

The T20I series starts on October 6 with the first match to be played in Dharamshala. You can find the full schedule for the IND v BAN T20I series here.

Varun Chakravarthy recalled

Along with the selection of Yadav, another surprise pick is that of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who has been recalled after last playing for India in November, 2021.

Chakravarthy had a good IPL season with eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders, picking 21 wickets from 14 games at an economy rate of 8.04. He had also picked 20 wickets in IPL 2023, and has been rewarded for his consistent performances.

No room for Ishan Kishan

Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma are the two wicketkeepers in the squad. Kishan, who lost his central contract this year, has not been selected. Interestingly, Rishabh Pant, India's wicketkeeper for the 2024 T20 World Cup, is missing from the squad as well, perhaps with an eye on the gruelling Test season that India have. Pant is currently with India's Test squad facing Bangladesh.
