After just 35 overs in the first two days, day three of the Kanpur Test between India and Bangladesh has been called off as well.
No play was possible for the second consecutive day in the second India-Bangladesh Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Rain restricted day one to just 35 overs, while it completely wiped out day two. The city suffered incessant rains overnight, but there had been no rains since the morning of day three.
Despite that, the umpires have deemed that the ground isn't in a fit enough conditions for play to continue, calling off play during their 2 pm inspection.
Bangladesh are currently 107-3, having been put into bat on the first day by India.
The Green Park Stadium in Kanpur has been in the news for all the wrong reasons even before the Test match started. There were reports of certain stands not being up to standards to hold a decent crowd. On day one, a Bangladesh fan alleged that he was beaten by local Indian supporters before it emerged that his claims were exaggerated and false and that he had fallen sick. And now, the ground's drainage system has come into serious criticism after a second consecutive washed out day.
What's the forecast for the last two days?
Luckily, the forecast for days four and five are better, with very little chances of rain. However, with so much time having been lost in the match already, both teams will have to play an aggressive brand of cricket, both with bat and ball, to try and force a result in what is now an effectively two-and-a-half day Test.
