Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin ended Kraigg Brathwaite’s innings on day three in Port of Spain with a beauty which turned through a narrow gap between bat and pad to hit the stumps.

The West Indies captain had battled hard in response to India’s first-innings total of 438. He had faced north of 200 balls, taking West Indies to within eight overs of the second new ball just two wickets down.

Ashwin, who claimed 12 wickets on a helpful surface in an innings win at Dominica, found things tougher in the second Test, on a less responsive pitch. He had toiled through 25 overs, conceding less than two runs an over but going wicketless.

Finally, he found some turn, and delivered the perfect delivery. Coming over the wicket, he delivered the ball outside off stump, with Brathwaite coming forward with bat low to the ground and just in front of pad. Somehow, Ashwin snuck through, finding dip and spin to sneak through the gate and bowl the opener.

West Indies continued to fight, but India ended day three on top, with West Indies 229-5 and still trailing by over 200 runs.
