Kohli was warming up ahead of a day in the field, wearing his bright orange India training jersey when he made the lovely gesture. A young fan presented him with an RCB shirt to sign in preparation for the 2024 season of the IPL. Kohli duly obliged, signing his name in a gold marker pen.
Mark Nicholas facilitated the interaction, after which Kohli posed for a photograph with the boy before also being joined by Nicholas. The young fan had a broad smile on his face while the photo was snapped ahead of play.
The RCB franchise has a strong South Africa connection: AB de Villiers played for the side from 2011 to 2021, during the course of which he formed a memorable partnership with Kohli and was one of the most successful batters in the history of the IPL.
More recently, former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has led RCB since 2022 and will continue to do so in the 2024 season.
In the second day of the Test match at Centurion, KL Rahul shone for reaching his second Test century at the ground on his comeback to the India Test side. South Africa then went on to make a solid start with the bat, with Dean Elgar reaching a half-century in the second session of the day.
At the time of writing, South Africa are 139-3 after bowling out India for 245.
