South Africa, chasing 152 in 15 overs in the second T20I against India at Gqeberha, got off to a flier, reaching 42 in only 16 balls, with Breetzke making 16 in seven. The openers, keen to get quick runs, looked for a double on the fifth ball of the third over sent down by Ravindra Jadeja, which Hendricks played away towards deep mid-wicket.

Hendricks and Breetzke took a single and then ran down the track for a non-existent second run despite Hendricks signalling him to stop. But Breetzke kept running towards the non-striker’s end even as Tilak Varma picked up the ball and threw it towards Jadeja, who then sent it to the wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, who whipped off the stumps as the two batters were stranded at the other end.

Hendricks went on to score a 27-ball 49 with South Africa victorious by five wickets.
