The T20I leg of India’s tour to South Africa ended 1-1. The first game was abandoned due to rain; South Africa clinched the second T20I; and India clawed back in the last match with a comprehensive 106-run victory to level the series. The focus now shifts to the ODIs.
The first clash of the three-match ODI series will be played on December 17 at the New Wanderers, Johannesburg, followed by the second ODI on December 19 at St George’s Park, Gqeberha, and the third ODI on December 21 at Boland Park, Paarl.
KL Rahul will lead India in the absence of several regulars, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, among others. Sanju Samson and Rajat Patidar have been recalled, with the latter returning from an Achilles heel injury. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh has earned his maiden ODI call-up for his fruitful T20I form alongside Sai Sudharsan, who has been rewarded for his domestic and IPL exploits.
For South Africa, Aiden Markram will captain the side in Temba Bavuma’s absence, with support from senior members like David Miller, Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen, and Keshav Maharaj, among others.
