Fionn Hand and Gareth Delany have come back into the Ireland squad after not featuring in the T20 World Cup Europe Region Qualifier in Scotland in July. During that tournament, Ireland sealed their place at next year’s T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA.
Hand last played for Ireland in the one-off Test against England at Lord’s in early June, where he returned figures of 1-113 in the one innings he was required to bowl in. He has four wickets from his ten previous T20I matches having made his international debut last year.
Delany broke his wrist during the Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe last month, where Ireland crashed out before the Super Six stage of the tournament.
India have named Jasprit Bumrah as their captain for the series, which starts on August 18. Bumrah hasn’t played international cricket for almost a year after suffering a back injury. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named as his deputy ahead of his tenure in charge of the India side at the upcoming Asia Games. The senior India players who will feature in the Asia Cup such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have all been rested from the series in Ireland.
All three matches in the series will take place in Malahide, with the second set for August 20 and the final game on August 23.
