Watch: Virat Kohli crunched a picture-perfect six off long-time teammate Jasprit Bumrah on day three of during India’s tour game against Leicestershire on Saturday.
The Virat Kohli versus Jasprit Bumrah duel has been a popular one in the IPL over the years and was rekindled through the red ball during India’s practice game in Leicester, which features four players in the home side. In India’s second innings, Kohli batted down the order, with some of the younger players getting more game time. He eventually came out to bat at No.7, combining with Shardul Thakur for a handy stand.
Along the way, he took on Bumrah, even as India piled on a lead that crossed 200. In the 55th over, he was greeted by a back-of-length delivery, pitched outside off stump, that lifted off the surface. Equal to the task, Kohli stood tall, punching it with power for it to sail over the deep backward-point fence.
Kohli, whose form has been a concern for India in recent times, carried on to reach tea unbeaten on 58.
