Watch: Jos Buttler was bowled first ball by a beauty from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, falling for a golden duck in his first game as full-time England limited-overs captain.

Eoin Morgan confirmed his retirement from international cricket in the lead-up to England’s T20I and ODI series against India, with Buttler confirmed as his replacement. Buttler, established as perhaps the best T20 batter in the world right now, came into the game off the back of a stunning IPL campaign, hitting four centuries, a joint record in a single season in the competition.

However, he had no answer to the first ball bowled by Bhuvneshwar. The right-arm quick tied Jason Roy up to start with, restricting the hard-hitting opener to one run off four deliveries, before serving up a sizzling, in-swinging corker to Buttler, beating the England skipper all ends up and cannoning into his stumps via his pads.

Bhuvneshwar and debutant Arshdeep Singh continued to extract extravagant movement. Arshdeep, on debut, began his international career with a maiden, becoming just the second India men’s bowler, after Ajit Agarkar, to bowl a maiden in his first T20I over.

CricViz confirmed that the amount of swing found in the first two overs was a record for a T20I.
