Women's T20 World Cup points table after West Indies win

England's heavy defeat to the West Indies in Dubai today (October 15) means that they have crashed out of the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup, and all semi-finalists are now confirmed.

Both sides went into the crunch clash of Group B knowing a win would likely put them through to the knockouts, and once England had batted first and scored 141-7, that equation was confirmed. England suffered a blow during their innings when their captain Heather Knight had to retire hurt due to calf tightness, and could not take the field for the chase.

West Indies dominated the run chase, scoring 67 runs against the powerplay and Qiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews combining for a 102-run stand which was only broken when Joseph mis-hit and attempted big hit in the 13th over. England in comparison, were ragged. They dropped several simple catches in the field and looked increasingly desperate as the innings went on. They had won every game in the tournament up until today, but were unable to pull back the West Indies after fast start, and lost by six wickets with two overs remaining.

It's the first time England haven't reached the semi-finals of a women's T20 World Cup since 2010, and only the second time in the tournament's history. The West Indies haven't made it out of the group stages of the tournament in the last two editions, having last been in the semi-finals in 2018.

The margin of victory means that West Indies finish top of Group B and will face New Zealand in the second semi-final on Friday (October 18). Australia will face South Africa in the other game on Thursday (October 17). The winners will then face off in the final on Sunday (October 20).
