The updated schedule of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, to be held between October 3 and October 20 has been revealed

The updated schedule of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, to be held between October 3 and October 20, was revealed on Monday (August 26).

The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup was expected to be held in Bangladesh from the first week of October. However, due to the recent protests and the political unrest in Bangladesh, the tournament was shifted to the UAE.

Dubai and Sharjah will now host the ninth edition of the tournament, which will feature 23 matches involving ten sides. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium will be the two grounds where the matches will be played over 18 days.

The ten teams have been divided into two groups - Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in Group A while Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies and Scotland are in the second group. Each team will play four group matches, from where the top two teams will advance to the final. The first semi-final will be held in Dubai on October 17 with the second semi-final in Sharjah a day later. The final will be held in Dubai.

However, irrespective of where they finish, India will play the first semi-final if they make it through into the top four.

Bangladesh will take on Scotland in the opener in Sharjah. In the previous schedule, England were playing South Africa in the first game of the event.
