In the women's game, India v Pakistan has not traditionally had the same level of rivalry as in men's cricket, but this particular match has added importance thanks to the team's contrasting starts in the tournament thus far.
Pakistan played Sri Lanka in their opening match in Sharjah, and looked on track for a heavy defeat as they slipped to 74-7 and 84-8 in the first innings. But captain Fatima Sana led from the front with a stunning 20-ball 30 from No.7 to lift her side to 116 before picking up 2-10 as the bowlers came together to help pull off a stunning 31-run win.
India also made a poor start against New Zealand in their first match, but did not recover. After conceding 160-4 in the first innings, none of the batters could make their chances count. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with 15 as they were bundled out for 102 to suffer a 58-run hammering.
With net run rate against them and a fixture against tournament heavyweights Australia to come, India run the risk of being virtually knocked out of the tournament with a loss in this match.
