Australia, the winners of the 2023 T20 World Cup, took home USD 1 million last year, will take win an increase of 134% if they win again in 2024

For the first time, the winners of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will get the same prize money as their male counterparts.

The victors of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup will receive USD 2.34 million, an increase in 134 per cent from the previous edition. The runners-up will get USD 1.17 million, making it the only major team sport in the world with equal* prize money for men’s and women’s World Cup events.

Overall, the prize pool has increased to USD 7,958,080 for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, a massive 225 per cent jump from the 2023 event where the winners received USD 1 million and the finalists got half a million US dollars.

How has the prize money changed in 2024?

In 2023, the total prize money in the Women's T20 World Cup was USD 2.45 million, with major changes to the amount each competing team will get in the event.

The World Cup has been shifted from Bangladesh, and will now be played in the UAE in October 2024.

*While the teams will receive equal prize money for the equivalent finishing position as compared to the Men’s T20 World Cup and the same amount for winning a match, the event prize money of the men’s event was slightly higher due to more teams and more games. While India were awarded USD 2.45 million for winning the Men's T20 World Cup, the women's champions will take home a total of 2.34 million. The men’s competition has 20 teams participating, while there will be 10 teams in the women’s T20 World Cup.
