Australia have named their squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, starting October 3. Here’s the full team list, including the latest team news and injury updates.

Alyssa Healy to lead in her first T20 World Cup

The 15-member squad led by Alyssa Healy includes many familiar faces. Healy took over as full-time captain after Meg Lanning retired last year. Tahlia McGrath will deputise her for the tournament.

The side that won the 2023 T20 World Cup has undergone three changes, with Tayla Vlaemink, Sophie Molineux and Phoebe Litchfield replacing Heather Graham, Jess Jonassen and Lanning.

Jonassen has been left out despite her superb performance in the 2024 Hundred, where she finished as the third-leading wicket-taker, with 12 scalps from eight matches at an economy of 6.62 for Welsh Fire.

Vlaemink will bolster Australia’s strong fast-bowling attack, including Megan Schutt, Kim Garth, Elysse Perry, and Darcie Brown. On the other hand, Molineux comes in as an extra spin-bowling option alongside Ash Gardner, Georgia Wareham and Alana King.

Litchfield’s explosive nature makes her a potent top-order player in an already formidable batting outfit. She could be tried with either Healy or Beth Mooney at the top.

Australia are the most successful side in the competition, with six trophies in their cabinet. Since the inception of the competition in 2009, they have won in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2018, with their latest triumph coming in the 2023 edition held in South Africa.
