Pakistan will begin their women’s T20 World Cup campaign on February 12 against India at Newlands, Cape Town. Here is the complete Pakistan World Cup squad, including team lists for women’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan have developed a habit of causing upsets on the biggest stage. A few months ago, they defeated India in the women’s Asia Cup. While they eventually failed to qualify for the final of that event, it was a big victory for them, considering how strong India usually are. A year ago, at the women’s World Cup in New Zealand, they defeated the West Indies by eight wickets. That proved to be their only win at that tournament but it showed that they are a tough team to beat on their day.
Pakistan will hope to continue in similar fashion when they begin their women’s T20 World Cup campaign against India at Cape Town.
The team will be led by Bismah Maroof, who is expected to play a key role again. Fatima Sana and Muneeba Ali could also be crucial players in the Pakistan World Cup squad, with Nida Dar and Sidra Ameen adding experience. Ayesha Naseem is also one to watch out for, after her recent exploits against Australia.
Pakistan are placed in Group B, alongside India, Ireland, England and the West Indies. The sides that finish in the top two in this group will qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan are not considered favourites at the moment but they cannot be written off either, especially after their wins against India and the West Indies in 2022.
