Pakistan qualified for the World Cup as one of the top seven teams (other than hosts South Africa) in the ICC T20 rankings. They are pitted in Group B, alongside England, India, Ireland, and the West Indies.
Barring their third, against the West Indies at the Boland Park in Paarl, Pakistan will play their other three league matches at the Newlands in Cape Town.
The Pakistan squad features captain Bismah Maroof; the wicketkeepers, Muneeba Ali and Sidra Nawaz; and Sidra Ameen, Aiman Anwer, Nida Dar, Tuba Hassan, Sadia Iqbal, Javeria Khan, Ayesha Naseem, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu, Omaima Sohail, and Sadaf Shamas.
Shamas, originally a travelling reserve player, was a late inclusion after Diana Baig was ruled out of the tournament with a fractured finger. Ghulam Fatima and Kainat Imtiaz are the other travelling reserves.
Pakistan start off with a match against India, on February 12. They play Ireland three days later, travel to Boland to play the West Indies on February 19, and return to Cape Town to play England.
Group A features Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals, to be played on February 23 and 24. The final will take place on February 26. All three knockout matches will be played in Newlands.
