The 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup started on February 10, with teams currently completing their first round of matches in the group stage of the competition. South Africa were stunned by Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tournament and England comfortably beat West Indies in Group B.

India and Pakistan are set to begin their campaign on Sunday, February 12 at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town. The match will begin at 3pm local time.

While India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is back after suffering from a shoulder injury, Smriti Mandhana will miss the fixture after picking up a finger injury in training. It is thought she will be back fit again for India’s following match against West Indies.

Pakistan come into the tournament off the back of a 3-0 T20I series defeat to defeat to defending world champions Australia. They will be led by Bismah Maroof, Pakistan’s leading T20I run scorer.

The last time the two sides met in the format was in last year’s Asia Cup, where Pakistan beat India by 13 runs. Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu were the heroes for Pakistan on that occasion, the former with an unbeaten half-century and the latter with three wickets.
