West Indies and Pakistan secured wins in the Women's World Cup Qualifier on Thursday (April 17). Here's what the points table looks like after those results.
West Indies scrape win to stay alive
At the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, Bangladesh elected to bat first knowing a win would see them through to the World Cup, and send West Indies home. They posted 227-9, Sharmin Akhter top-scoring with 67 and Fargana Hoque scoring 42. Aaliyah Alleyne took 4-39 in nine overs.
In reply, West Indies were cruising at 140-3 before Hayley Matthews' dismissal triggered a slide to 197-6 with 7.3 overs remaining. But No.6 Chinelle Henry ensured she took her side home with four overs to spare, remaining unbeaten on 51 off 46 balls.
The result has kept West Indies alive in the tournament, as they go into their final group game against Thailand on Saturday. They must also win that game to have a chance to qualify for the main tournament later this year.
Pakistan outclass Thailand to secure qualification
In the second match of the day, tournament hosts Pakistan chose to bat first at the Gaddafi Stadium. The scoring rate was slow for a large part of their innings, as they crawled along to 85-4 in 31.4 overs by the time skipper Fatima Sana came to the crease. She put on 97 for the fifth wicket with Sidra Amin (80), and remained unbeaten on 62 off 59 to take her side to 205-6.
Even with a modest target, Thailand were in the chase during the Powerplay, getting to 44-2. But thereafter, Pakistan put the squeeze on through the middle overs, eventually skittling Thailand for 118 to win by 87 runs and secure qualification for the tournament, with a fourth straight win.
The last remaining spot at the World Cup will now go to Bangladesh, Scotland or West Indies.
