Pakistan beat the West Indies in the 2025 Women's World Cup Qualifier on Monday (April 14). Here is the updated points table after today's match.
After a heartbreaking loss to Scotland in their opener, West Indies bounced back with a nail-biting last-over win against Ireland. A victory over hosts Pakistan would have strengthened their campaign further, but the West Indies faltered again.
In their first two games, captain Hayley Matthews kept them in the fight. Her heroic 114 while battling cramps to go with 4-56 went in vain against Scotland, while her 4-24 against Ireland, including the final wicket of Arlene Kelly while defending seven runs in the last over, secured a narrow win.
On Monday, Matthews’ 2-30 helped restrict Pakistan to 191. Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher also took two wickets each, with Ashmini Munisar and Aaliyah Alleyne chipping in with one apiece to keep the hosts to a modest total.
In the chase, West Indies suffered an early blow as Matthews fell for a duck off the first ball from Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, extending her all-or-nothing trend (three ducks and three hundreds in her last nine innings). The West Indies never recovered, crumbling to 126 as Sana’s 3-16 sealed their defeat.
