Bangladesh and Ireland both won in the 2025 Women's World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday (April 15) - Here is the updated points table after today's matches.
Record 8th-wicket stand in vain as Bangladesh beat Scotland
After electing to bat first, Bangladesh's innings was once again dominated by captain Nigar Sultana - a recurring theme in this tournament. Her unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, studded with 11 fours, propelled Bangladesh to 276-6, but it was openers Fargana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter (both scoring 57) who laid the foundation, allowing Sultana to capitalise late. Sultana's last three ODI innings now read 101, 51, and 83 - making her the tournament's highest run-scorer with a staggering average of 117.50.
Scotland’s chase began horribly, collapsing to 90-5 before losing two more quick wickets to slump to 110-7. However, Priyanaz Chatterji (61) and Rachel Slater (61 not out) staged a defiant 115-run partnership – the highest-ever eighth-wicket stand in women’s ODIs. When Chatterji fell in the 48th over, Scotland still needed 52 off 13 balls. With victory for Scotland realistically out of reach, Slater battled on, remaining unbeaten as Scotland finished at 242-9, falling short by 34 runs.
Ireland dominate helpless Thailand
Batting first in search of their first victory, Ireland put up a strong total of 305-4. Captain Gaby Lewis set the tone with a steady 75, while No. 3 batter Amy Hunter contributed 76, the pair laying a solid foundation. The innings gained late momentum thanks to Leah Paul’s explosive unbeaten knock – she smashed 10 fours and a six in her 40-ball 67 not out, powering Ireland past the 300-run mark in the final overs.
In reply, Thailand were bowled out for 259 in the final over, with Louise Little claiming 5-28 – making her the youngest Irish seam bowler to take a five-wicket haul in Women’s ODIs.
