Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce scored a national record 131 not out during her side's must-win World Cup Qualifier against Ireland on Friday (April 18).
In Scotland's final match of the tournament, they had to beat Ireland to stand any chance of making it to the Women's World Cup for the first time. Last year, they qualified for the Women's T20 World Cup for the first time.
Bryce won the toss, and chose to bat first. She was brought to the crease at the fall of the first wicket in just the second over, as Pippa Sproul was trapped lbw by Jane Maguire.
Kathryn Bryce scores record 131* against Ireland
Scotland slipped to 19-3 after Maryam Faisal and Bryce's sister, wicketkeeper Sarah, departed in quick succession. Bryce and Ailsa Lister (27) then put on 62 for the fourth wicket before Lister and Megan McColl were both dismissed to leave Scotland 100-5. Katherine Fraser (33) then joined-up with Bryce to put on 65, the latter reaching her half-century during this stand.
After crossing the 50-run mark, Bryce began to accelerate, unfazed by the loss of Fraser, and then Priyanaz Chatterjee in the 45th over. Her next 50 runs came off 50 balls, and her last 15 yielded 31 runs as she lifted Scotland to a challenging 268-7.

This is only the second century for Scotland in women's ODIs, following Saskia Horley's 100 against Papua New Guinea in August last year. The score continues a rich vein of form for Bryce, whose scores in the Qualifier now read 6, 91, 60, 5 and 131*. With the ball, she has taken 1-34, 0-32, 0-26 and 2-53.
It is also the highest score by any batter in the official Women's World Cup Qualifiers, beating Hayley Matthews' 114* from nine days ago.

Highest individual scores in Women's World Cup Qualifier
The Women's World Cup Qualifier tournament in its current form has been played since 2008. Bryce's score is the highest in this competition.
