Fahima Khatun and Jannatul Ferdus equalled a long-standing ODI feat in a Women’s World Cup Qualifier match where several records tumbled.
In a 2025 Women’s World Cup Qualifier match of many records at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground, Bangladesh posted 271-3, their highest ever ODI score, eclipsing their 252-4 against Ireland at Mirpur in 2024. They then bowled out Thailand for 93 to win by 178 runs, their highest margin of victory: they had defeated Ireland by 154 runs in the aforementioned game.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty hit an 80-ball 101, the third hundred for Bangladesh in ODIs. She added 152 for the third wicket with Sharmin Akhter (94 not out), the highest partnership for Bangladesh for any wicket. In that Ireland game, Fargana Hoque and Sharmin had put on 143 for the second wicket.
Bangladesh used five bowlers, of whom Fahima (5-21) and Jannatul (5-7) shared all the wickets. These are the second- and fourth-best figures for Bangladesh in the format. Khadija Tul Kubra (6-20 against Pakistan at Cox’s Bazar in 2018) remained at the top, while Nahida Akter (5-21 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2021) is at third place. These are Bangladesh’s only five-fors in the format.
Fahima and Jennatul set the first instance of two bowlers taking five-wicket hauls in the same women’s ODI, and the second instance across genders.
