Match officials inspect the ground at the Central Broward Park stadium in Lauderhill, Florida

On Saturday, India are scheduled to play their final match of the 2024 T20 World Cup group stage against Canada in Lauderhill, Florida. Here are the latest updates on the weather in the city.

India have already qualified for the Super Eight stage from Group A after defeating Ireland, Pakistan and USA in their first three matches. This will be their first match of the tournament outside New York, and they will be looking to finish on a high and maintain their one hundred per cent winning record.

Canada, meanwhile, lost their opening match to USA in Dallas before beating Ireland and losing to Pakistan in New York. They are in with an outside chance of qualifying for the Super Eights, but would need to beat India and hope other results go their way in order for that to happen.

T20 World Cup: Rain update for IND vs CAN

The weather in Lauderhill has been the subject of attention for well over a week now, thanks to the flood warnings issued for the area by local authorities. The Nepal-Sri Lanka match here on June 11 here was washed out, and there are doubts over whether USA-Ireland on June 14 will be played.

India vs Canada is set to start at 10:30am local time on Saturday, June 15. According to the Weather Channel, the chances of rain are highest on that day around 8:00am, at 40 per cent. The forecast predicts reduced chances of precipitation around 11:00am, at 32 percent. Accuweather predicts an 86 per cent chance of rain in Lauderhill for the day, which may or may not affect the match venue (Central Broward Regional Park Stadium) and timings.

What happens if the IND vs CAN game is washed out?

If the match is abandoned, India and Canada will be awarded one point each. In that case, India would finish on top of the group with seven points, while Canada would move to three points. That tally would not be enough for them to progress to the Super Eights, but depending on other results could be enough for them to finish third in Group A.
