In the summit clash, India posted 176-7 batting first, thanks in large part to a 72-run third-wicket stand between Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47) to rescue them from 34-3. In reply, South Africa kept up with the required run rate, until Heinrich Klassen got hold of Axar in the 15th over of the chase, smashing 24 to bring the equation down to 30 runs from 30 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

But after four tight overs, it came down to the Proteas needing 16 off the final over, bowled by Hardik Pandya. They were still in the game, with David Miller on strike for the first ball. Presumably attempting a wide yorker, Pandya bowled a full toss first up, and Miller connected.

The ball went high in the air, towards the long off boundary. Suryakumar Yadav, patrolling the rope, caught the ball before releasing it as his momentum took him outside the field of play.

He jumped back in to complete a stunning catch under pressure, and help India take a crucial wicket at that stage. Pandya then closed out the game against tail-enders Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj to seal India's second T20 World Cup title.

New crowd footage, filmed on a smartphone went viral on social media on Tuesday (July 3). The video captures India captain Rohit Sharma's reaction to Yadav's catch, showing him standing with his hands on his knees as the ball appeared to be crossing the rope before 'SKY' reeled it in.
