Watch: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Usman Khan suffered a nasty clash in the field during Pakistan’s final match of the T20 World Cup v Ireland, both falling to the ground.

The incident happened when both fielders went to take a catch in the deep to dismiss Mark Adair. Shaheen was tracking backwards with his eyes on the ball, while Usman was also fixed on the ball running up behind Shaheen.

Shaheen safely held the catch as Usman clattered into him. Usman fell to the ground and landed heavily on his back, with his head whipping back and hitting the ground. Shaheen fell heavily on top of him, just about managing to keep the ball safely in his hands.

Both players received treatment on the ground for sometime as Adair walked off the field. However, both were eventually able to continue as Imad Wasim finished his over.

Three balls later, Barry McCarthy stepped away from his stumps to attempt a huge swing into the off side, but missed entirely with the ball thudding into the stumps. That was Ireland’s ninth wicket, having lost three in the first two overs of the match.

Shaheen was the main enforcer of Ireland’s collapse in the powerplay, taking two wickets in three balls in the first over of the match. He also struck in the second over, and finished his opening burst with figures of 3-16 off three overs.

The match in Florida will be both side’s last of the competition, with Pakistan eliminated after losing to both India and the USA, while Ireland currently sit bottom of the table with one point from their washout against the USA.
