Netravalkar dismissed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Watch: Former India U19 fast-bowler Saurabh Netravalkar dismissed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in consecutive overs to leave India 10-2 against the USA.

Kohli's difficult start to the tournament continued in New York in India's penultimate T20 World Cup group game, as he registered his second T20I golden duck of the year. Opening alongside Rohit Sharma in the chase of 111, Kohli came on strike for the second delivery, facing left-arm pacer Netravalkar, fresh from his starring role in the super over against Pakistan.

Despite now playing for the USA, Netravalkar was once a promising young talent for India. Born in Mumbai, he represented India at U19 level, and was their highest wicket-taker in the 2010 U19 World Cup in New Zealand. However, he struggled to make it into the Mumbai first XI and subsequently the India senior set up. He moved to the USA in 2015, and made his List A debut for the USA in 2018.

Bowling his first ball to Kohli, Netravalkar slanted the ball across the right hander on a full length, enticing Kohli into a drive. Kohli played at the ball with his hands well away from his body, getting a faint edge on the ball, which carried through to the keeper. His wicket left India 1-1 with Rishabh Pant coming to the crease.

The duck continued a string of low scores for Kohli in the tournament, having been dismissed in single figures in every one of his three innings so far.

The situation went from bad to worse for India when Rohit was dismissed two overs later, another victim of Netravalkar. Trying to push the ball forwards towards mid-on, Rohit got a leading edge and spooned the ball up into the air. Harmeet Singh ran back from mid-off and safely pouched the catch, leaving India 10-2 in the third over.
