As New York prepared to host the most highly-anticipated clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup so far, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri were spotted trying out their baseball skills ahead of the India-Pakistan game.

While the various teams at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium ensured that everything was in order for the match, the ICC took the opportunity to organise a promotional event at a fan park in New York involving a couple of Indian cricketing legends.

Cricketer-turned-broadcaster Ravi Shastri and the 'Little Master' Sachin Tendulkar - both World Cup winners - tried their hand at some baseball, the dominant bat-and-ball sport in the USA and a close cousin of cricket. Tendulkar batted as Shastri turned 'pitcher' while commentating in his usual style.

The ICC has stated that the ongoing tournament is an opportunity for cricket to garner a new fanbase Stateside, particularly with its addition to the roster of team sports to be played at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
