Watch: Rashid Khan hurled his bat onto the pitch after he was denied strike by batting partner Karim Janat during the final Super Eights clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

With a semi-final berth at stake, the Bangladesh bowlers strangled the Afghanistan batters, leaving them languishing at 100-5 after the 19th over. The high-pressure situation resulted in Afghan capain Rashid Khan lose his cool with his teammate Karim Janat when the latter denied him the strike.

Rashid upped the ante with a six in the second ball of the last over off Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Off the third ball, he tried to hit a helicopter shot but got a leading edge to the off side. He ran a single and called for a second run, but Janat sent him back.

Rashid had already run some distance. Furious with Janat, he now hurled his bat onto the pitch in frustration before returning to the non-striker’s end.

Rashid closed the innings with a six to take Afghanistan to 115-5 in an innings that featured 66 dot balls. His 10-ball 19-run cameo involved three sixes.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 48-4 in 6.3 overs.
