David Miller survives an LBW appeal during South Africa's T20 World Cup fixture against Nepal

Watch: South Africa’s David Miller almost returned to the dugout after an LBW review by Nepal against him, but the umpire’s call ruled him not out during a T20 World Cup 2024 fixture on Friday (June 14).

The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the 14th over when South Africa were at 75-3. Kushal Bhurtal, who just dismissed Heinrich Klaasen cheaply two balls back, bowled a leg break on a full length around middle and leg stump. David Miller tried to play a sweep but missed it, letting the ball crash onto his pads. Nepal appealed for an lbw, but the umpire turned it down.

Nepal captain Rohit Paudel went upstairs. The TV replay showed that the ball pitched in line, and at this moment, Miller started walking back to the pavilion. The trajectory of the ball showed that the impact was in line with the ball just clipping the stumps. Since it was an umpire’s call, the decision stayed with the on-field official. Fortunately, the decision didn’t hurt Nepal much as Dipendra Singh Airee sent Miller back for seven off 10 later in the innings.

South Africa managed just 115-7 on the board, courtesy of Bhurtal's 4-15. In reply, Nepal fell short just by a run off the last ball of the thrilling contest.
